Australia Day Ambassador - Moree 2026

Bruno was honoured to be the Australia Day ambassador for Moree this year and to also speak about TIS and the work we do to support our community particularly tradies and men. Bruno said - I feel honoured every time I get invited to speak, because the opportunities are too good not to be normalising and prioritising having conversations regarding the silent crisis men are facing in this country. 7 men a day in Australia who take their own lives and in trade industry, we lose a worker to suicide every 2 days...these aren't statistics, these are fathers, sons, brothers, workmates... This is why creating safe spaces for men to talk and share openly, is one of if not the most powerful tools to help men heal. In Tonga we have a saying, 'you can't heal in isolation only in connection'... After the event a local man approached me and asked if I could help him start a men's group in Moree so that the men can have a space to meet and spend time together. I said I'd be honoured. Jo and I drove away feeling very encouraged that the message has been well received and it's going to change the outcomes of so many blokes. I'm truly grateful to the Australia Day ambassador program for this wonderful opportunity. Thanks Bruno
